Our New Cub has a name

The cheetah team, which is hand-rearing the cub with the help of the Zoo’s neonate staff, selected Rozi [ROH] + [ZEE] as a good fit for the 4-week-old female.
“We liked Rozi because it means rose (or flower) in Swahili, one of the languages spoken in the cub’s native land, and because she was born in the spring,” said Cat Ambassador Program (CAP) lead trainer Linda Castañeda. “It’s also a nod to the beautiful botanical garden that will be her backyard as she grows up here.”

Elephant
Sabu is trying to pull the trees down outside of the bull yard. The keepers are continuing to monitor the situation and may have certain elephants in certain areas to prevent events liek these from happening.
Elephant “Mai Thai” tail wound continues to heal well. Trying a new bandaging product.

Miscellaneous Animal Information:
- Burger, our 38 year old King Penguin, has been having some issues
while in molt (an uncomfortable time for any penguin but always
harder on older birds). We have made the hard decision due to his
deteriorating condition to humanely euthanize him. He will be missed. - WOTI: Lubber grasshoppers began hatching this past week! Great job
Mandy! - April has more Orchid Mantids hatching! Kelli has more Orb
Weaver eggcases hatching! - Goats at the CZ contact yard continue to be treated for dermatitis. Most
goats are responding well to treatment and their skin and hair is much
improved - Our new Male Tiger, Zero, is in the lower yard starting this week. He is still timid around the glass and will most likely be found toward the back of the exhibit. He does always have access to the yard, but may choose not to exit the tunnel.
