Out of Town:

I will be out of town in Baltimore attending the AZA Conference this week. I will be checking e-mail so if there is anything you need, please don’t hesitate to send me a message. Thanks to all of you for holding down the fort while I am in Baltimore! I’m spending my time here telling everyone that we have the best Volunteers in all of AZA!

No coverage on Friday and Saturday. Please let me know if the afternoon Rover can help with at least one, if not both of the shows. If anyone can help on the weekend days, feel free to sign up. If you have someone interested and it is too late to sign up in MVP, please let me know.
Keeper Assistant Positions:
- UPDATE: Other departments may be lowering the threshold to one day a week. I will send out more information as I receive it. Some Animal Departments are looking for Temporary Keeper Assistants during the Fall and Winter. One team is looking for help once a week and others need significantly more help (around 20+ hours a week). If anyone is interested in picking up addition duties for the Fall and Winter, please send me your resume, cover letter and your availability by the end of the week. Below you will find some of the requirements for the role. This is an INTERNAL REQUEST ONLY, do not share with anyone outside the Zoo. If you have any other questions, please contact me by e-mail.

Miscellaneous
- Interpretive
- Condolences to the Interpretive team. The team has had 2 very difficult losses in the past week.
- Bonnie, the screaming hairy armadillo passed away unexpectedly last week. Vet staff was planning for an upcoming surgery but she passed before it could happen.
- Adams, the Parma Wallaby, passed away last week. Adams had been presenting thin and lethargic and vets were working to get him fluids and food in his system. Adams lived a good long life in the care of the interpretive team and the loss is very difficult.
- Flamingo breeding season was cut short because all the eggs were disturbed. The team believes this was likely because of an owl that was disturbing the flock.
