Last year, over 800 volunteers donated 146,794 hours helping in nearly every department at the Zoo. So many weeds pulled, paper mache enrichment items created, poops pounded, visitors inspired, glasses of wine poured, enclosures cleaned… and more! You guys are absolutely wonderful 🙂
From all the Zoo of us here at the Zoo, THANK YOU!
Here is a sweet note from Primate curator, Ron Evans for you all:
Dear Volunteers,
As always, I really appreciate your amazing help and support. It goes without saying but deserves to be said that we could not function without your superior team. Of course, I can’t help but reflect one more time on Clara Dantic and her overwhelming contributions for 40 plus years at the Cincinnati Zoo. She was both disarmingly sweet and tenaciously driven. Ever professional, ever focused and ever dedicated to serving the zoo. She was not much for idle gossip or rumor spreading but loved to chat and was always curious to learn more. As many of you worked for her, you know she set super high expectations of her teams whether it be her tenure as day captain or running the ZVOs with Madge Van Buskirk. I will always miss Clara and Madge but the good news is we have a boat load of other great volunteers demonstrating that same “Danticity” if you will. I should put that on a T-Shirt of something. Anyway, looking forward to another great year from you all as we move our critical conservation efforts forward.
Thanks
Ron
