Tosh’s 8/7 Horticulture Update

Hello Horticulture Volunteers,

The next week in the gardens is going to be both busy and exciting!  We will be hosting Public Plant Trials Day, enjoying our Horticulture Pizza Party & Ice Cream Social, voting for our favorite annuals, and more!  I’ve outlined next week’s volunteer opportunities below.

Public Plant Trials Day – Wednesday, August 15 8:30 am to noon – WE STILL NEED 12 VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH THIS EVENT!! Please sign up on MVP if you are interested in volunteering for this event.  It really is a great way to chat with our visitors about plants and learn what types of plants they are drawn to.  We will provide you with instructions and talking points on the day of the event to guide your interactions with visitors.  PLEASE ARRIVE AT THE SHOP BY 8:30 AM FOR INSTRUCTIONS & AN OVERVIEW OF THE EVENT.

Volunteer Annual TrialsTuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – This is your opportunity to walk the gardens and tell us what your favorite annuals of 2018 are.  We would love for as many horticulture volunteers to participate in this as possible.  PLEASE MEET AT THE SHOP AT 8 AM.  We will provide you with instructions and the annual rating form.  Please bring something to write on (folder, clip board, etc.) and something to write with (pen or pencil.)  If you are not interested rating annuals for our plant trials program there will be tasks in the garden available.  PLEASE MEET AT THE SHOP AT 8 AM FOR THIS AS WELL.  If you are a Wednesday volunteer and are participating in Public Plant Trials Day, you will have the opportunity to complete your annual rating during the following week.

Horticulture Volunteer Pizza Party & Ice Cream Social – Thursday, August 16th at Peacock Pavilion beginning at noon.  Join us for an afternoon of fun where we take the time to catch up with one another.

As always, thank you so much for everything that you do for the gardens!

Happy Gardening,

Tosh Dobias
