Wildlife Ranger Challenge

Hello all!
I’m excited to share that our conservation partners in Kenya at SORALO are competing with 150 other teams across Africa to rally support for the Wildlife Ranger Challenge this weekend! You’re invited to join them in a run, walk, or bike ride too or to support them from afar for this important cause.
On September 18th, the ranger teams will each be running 21km while carrying 20kg packs of gear (that’s 44lbs!). Ranger teams across Africa are uniting for the second year in a row for the #WildlifeRangerChallenge, a race with one goal: to support thousands of rangers and threatened species including elephants, pangolins, rhinos, and lions.
They are running to raise awareness about their hard work protecting these species and raise money for wildlife rangers across Africa. You can join SORALO team in solidarity by registering here.
  • If you join, please send a pic to us so we can celebrate our CZBG team alongside our SORALO rangers!
  • After your race for wildlife, you can complete this form to log your distance. You can expect to get a certificate for participating in the week following the challenge!
While the Wildlife Ranger Challenge is a great opportunity to show your solidarity with rangers across Africa, it’s also a platform to raise much needed funds for rangers and their teams who need support since their salaries and parks have declined with the pandemic.
Here’s the link to the SORALO’s team’s fundraising page, which unlocks additional matching funds from the TUSK Trust and the Scheinberg Relief Fund to go to both SORALO and teams in need of funds due to Covid-19. Any money raised goes twice as far and will help support rangers across Africa!
The fundraising deadline is September 30th, so thanks for helping to spread the word to maximize the support we can provide to the defenders of Africa’s wildlife.
All the best,
Lily
